Joint Press Release on Successful EASA Level D Qualification of Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH (RST) H135 Full Flight Simulator at Norwegian Competence Centre Helicopter AS (NCCH)

Berg, Germany / Stavanger, Norway, October 8, 2020

Last week the first-of-its-kind H135 (EC135 T3H) full flight simulator was initially qualified as to the highest standard Level D by the responsible competent aviation authority CAA Norway. Therefore the simulator is now available for training under European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations.

This simulator is a perfect addition to the H145 (BK117 D2) FFS D, which is already being operated since 2018. Actually both configurations can be installed within the same simulator only by exchanging some controls and instruments and selecting the respective software load. The process has been optimized and configurations can be exchanged within an hour, allowing efficient usage of the simulator for both helicopter types.

Dr. Roman Sperl, CEO of Reiser Simulation and Training commented the successful qualification: “I am very proud of the entire team who achieved qualification on first attempt. This simulator is proven to meet highest training standards and is even exceeding requirements given by EASA. It will be a perfect training tool for any kind of H135 crew training.”

The simulator includes step 3 of Helionix® as well as a full replica of the aft cabin for interactive 3rd crew member training. Same as in the H145 configuration the 3rd crew member of an H135 can be trained on any crew coordination tasks while offering him/her a perfect out-of-the-window view using VR technology.
Dr. Michael Mayrhofer, CEO of NCCH said: “With this initial qualification of the H135 another important milestone of NCCH has been achieved. The major success contributor was the outstanding performance of Reiser Simulation and Training and the good relationship within the whole team. NCCH is now happy to offer the increased simulator portfolio to our main customer NLA (Norwegian Air Ambulance), but also to customers from around the world for both, dry or wet training.”

Reiser’s H145 Full Flight Simulator @Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH – Qualified to EASA Level D by German Federal Aviation Office

Berg/Frankfurt, Germany, 27 August 2020

Lufthansa Aviation Training’s first own helicopter full flight simulator, designed and manufactured by Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH (RST), has received EASA Level D qualification by the German Federal Aviation Office (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt / LBA) on 27 August 2020.

The helicopter full flight simulator (FFS) manufactured by RST is equipped with an interchangeable H135/H145 cockpit (H135 to follow in early 2021). In addition, the FFS features a Third Crew Member Station, utilizing virtual reality technology to train crew coordination during the abseiling from a helicopter. Pilots can bring their own night vision goggles and thus enhance the realism of the mission. The helicopter simulator designed by RST sets new training standards featuring a 240 x 80 degree out-of-the-window view direct projection via high-resolution LED video projectors and an intuitive Instructor Operating Station (IOS).

Launching its first H145 helicopter FFS, Lufthansa Aviation Training expands its training portfolio in this segment, satisfying the high demand for training opportunities of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) crews.

“Pilot training is of utmost importance for flight safety. The company focuses on solutions tackling the challenges of training highly-specialised crews of rescue helicopters who need to be prepared for anything, anytime. We are honoured to be part of the team with Lufthansa Aviation Training and the DRF and are extremely happy that we were able to bring this product to its successful qualification without any delay caused by the pandemic”, explains Dr. Roman Sperl, CEO at Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH.

CONTRACT SIGNATURE @LUFTHANSA AVIATION TRAINING GMBH

Munich/Berg, Germany, December 2019

Another milestone in a successful year: Contract signature @Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH. Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH was appointed as manufacturer of the first helicopter simulator to join the Lufthansa Aviation Training fleet. We are contracted for the provision of a H135/H145 Level D Full Flight Simulator of the latest technology for trainings tailored for Helicopter Emergency Medical Services.

The Full Flight Simulator (FFS) with interchangeable cockpit is able to map specifics of both the H145 and H135 models. In addition, the FFS is equipped with a Third Crew Member Station, where virtual reality technology is used to simulate how to abseil from a helicopter with the entire crew. Since air rescue missions are increasing during the night, the modern helicopter FFS H145/H135 is particularly suitable for training essential flight situations in a realistic atmosphere. The new FFS helicopter type H145/H135 is going to be put into operation at the largest training location of Lufthansa Aviation Training in Frankfurt in summer 2020.

Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH (RST) has been contracted by NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) for the delivery of a MRH90 Maintenance Training Rig for the Australian Forces

Berg/Starnberg / Aix-en-Provence, 27 November 2019

RST was contracted by NAHEMA for the development and production of a MRH90 Maintenance Training Rig (MTR) for the Rotary Aircraft Maintenance School (RAMS) in Australia.

NAHEMA in Aix-en-Provence, France is the responsible management agency for the NH90 program representing and acting as such on behalf of currently 11 nations from all over the world.

The MTR is an exact, non-flying replica of the most advanced NH90 tactical troop transport helicopter of the 21st Century and will be used by maintenance and onboard technical personnel for training on both mechanical systems and components of the popular rotorcraft. More than 800 maintenance tasks are to be replicated (e.g. handling, removal, repair and installation of serviceable parts). Due to highest standards in data gathering (3D scanning) and design, the high fidelity of the MTR also allows installing additional role change equipment.

By using this Maintenance Training approach crews get more access to hands on training without having to tie up a real helicopter what ensures highest training quality while reducing the acquisition and life-cycle cost significantly.

H125 Full-Flight Simulator Qualified by Finnish Regulatory Authority

Helsinki, Finland October 17, 2019

US – German cooperation between TRU Simulation + Training and Reiser Simulation and Training successfully achieves EASA Level D qualification for the H125 Full-Flight Simulator at Coptersafety in Helsinki, Finland.

For this Training Academy Full-Flight Simulator, Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH, Berg/Germany provided their replicated H125 helicopter cockpit, flight model and Avionique Nouvelle® avionics software as well as their replicated H145 helicopter cockpit, flight model and Helionix® avionics software, thus contributing to the successful qualification of TRU’s latest FullFlight Simulator.

Achieving Level D qualification – the highest possible certification for a Full-Flight Simulator – emphasizes Reiser’s commitment on providing advanced solutions for pilot training. TRU’s Odyssey(TM) H® mothership together with Reiser’s H125 cockpit module, flight dynamics and avionics software make it the world’s newest H125 helicopter simulator to receive Level D certification, being built on Reiser’s own flight data and replicated hardware.

Reiser’ CEO Dr. Roman Sperl highlights the fruitful US-German cooperation in this program.

“This certification of the H125 project is an example of a very successful cooperation between two world-class simulator companies, one in the US the other in Germany, the operator, Coptersafety, and the Finnish Regulatory Authority”, said Dr. Roman Sperl, CEO Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH, “testament to what can be achieved if organizations are committed to excellence”.
